Talking dirty: the rise of audio erotica
My partner and I sat on the bed, the lights turned off, while my partner tried to keep a straight smile. A woman with a loud, sensual voice spoke candidly about her encounter with the man who makes her morning coffee.
“He started to kiss me on my bed and then slowly he began to touch my thighs. Then he moved his hands down my body. His hands brushed my legs, then he placed two fingers in my pussy… My breath caught every time that he moved in em>
Holy crap. This was not what I expected when I told my partner that we would be listening to some Erotic Audio Stories for Women to’mix it up’.
A few weeks back, I found an account called Dipsea on Instagram. It was a erotic audiobook app. Well, sexy audio stories, more accurately. Since porn is my favorite thing, I signed up right away.
Below is a preview of the Dipsea audio story. But beware, it’s very sexy. Post continues after video.
Dipsea’s female founders get it. This is why they created Dipsea. We all know that female orgasm can be a difficult and stubborn thing. This is because not enough people are having them. We also know 90% of women use “mental framing (or scenario-conjuring) to turn on. This is according to a study by female pleasure education app OMGYes, and The Kinsey Institute.
Mainstream porn rarely fulfills female fantasies.
After watching Game of Thrones on Monday night (you can fit it in whenever you want, OK?) My partner and I sat on the bed together listening to some erotic audio stories. This was all in the name of research.
Here’s what happened.
Dipsea can be described as the 2019 edition of the erotica excerpts from magazines that I secretly ate in high school, when my parents thought I was asleep. Or the more accessible 50 Shades of Grey version, which you can read on your way to work.
Dipsea, an audio app that promotes sexual wellness, was created with women in mind, by Gina Gutierrez, Faye Keegan and Faye Keegan. It features short audio stories filled with sexy content.
Consider erotica stories that last less than 20 minutes and include a variety of genres, perspectives and gender preferences. Quickies, classic fantasies and queer stories are all possible.
Dipsea’s mission is to “turn on your brain, get you in the mood, spark imagination”, and meet women wherever you are. Yeah. Dipsea offers non-narrative audio guides on self love and dirty talk basics, mapping pleasure, and sexual taboos in addition to the narrative-based, sexy stories and series.
The app is very discreet and beautiful. Each story includes a brief synopsis, quirky artwork, keywords that let you know what you are in for (e.g., Her + Him or Phone Sex, Moody OR Her+ Her Crush, Fantasy), as well as a rating of how hot things will get.
After downloading the app, you can either listen to a few stories for free or take a seven-day trial to unlock all categories. You can then subscribe monthly ($13.99), or pay an annual fee ($72.99).
Let’s get on to the sexual stuff.
Dipsea Review – What’s it like to use?
I will admit that Dipsea was a little bit lonely one sunny afternoon before I asked my partner if they would be interested.
After signing up for the seven-day trial, I relaxed and decided to give Salty, a 12-minute story, a chance. It is marked as ‘Her + Her Toy Play, Explorative’. Each episode includes a How Hot? Salty is rated at five flames from five on the How Hot? scale.
“I have fantasized about Layla for months and now she is standing in my kitchen,” the description began. I think it’s fine, lady.
“Our energy has a nervous sparkle to it. She should feel amazing, and that is exactly why I’m here.
So I closed my eyes, letting the story of Layla’s encounter with the mystery woman wash over me. It was immediately apparent to me how real the story felt. On a hot summer day in New York, the sound of the city instantly conjures up images of Carrie Bradshaw, braless, in a white singlet with ribbed sleeve, sweat running down her neck. Layla’s curly hair was described as ‘extra frizzy’ in the humidity.
Layla and the narrator end the story by going back to their apartment. They do body shots with tequila as there is no other alcohol in the house and then they get down on each other. Although the detail is unbelievable, the story and ability to visualize the scene in my mind made it worth it. This bit is enough.
It was quite a different experience to listen to Dipsea together.
Instead of dropping our dacks to listen to the audio stories, we chose to lie down in bed fully clothed, with the hope that sex might happen.
An 11-minute story called Extra Hot was presented. It featured a woman who recalled a sexual encounter with a barista at her favorite coffee shop. This story featured four out of five flames and included a Her + Him couple as well as the words “Crush” and “Sweet”. It was nothing too strenuous for our first attempt at audio erotica.
I forced my partner into cuddling up to me. He was lying on his back as though he was about to do a sleep study. I closed my eyes and let my mind wander through the story. A few moments later, I opened my eyes and saw my partner staring at the ceiling with wide-open eyes. Evidently, the story didn’t have the same effect on him than it did on me.
We both laughed when it came to the part where the barista described how he used his fingers for her orgasm. The word “pussy” seemed funny, but more in a nervous, anxious laugh way. I asked him at the end if he felt like he was turning on. He denied it. He said no. I was disappointed but determined to listen to another story about Her + Her dominance, with a spicy five flame rating called “Let Me See You”. Although the story was only seven minutes in length, it was enough to make me want to get some action with my partner.
He said that it didn’t work for him as well as traditional porn. We saw me turned on and it did the job perfectly.
Psst: We had a great chat about porn and what’s on the Sealed Section podcast. Enjoy the audio below. Continue reading after the audio.
My partner and I had a great time creating erotic audio stories together. He said it wasn’t a failure, but he also stated that he wouldn’t do it again unless I wanted. It gave me insight into my personality and what drives me. Lesbian and bisexual encounters are the only type of traditional porn that I find attractive. This is because they tend to be more emotional or emphasize female pleasure over big, veiny penis.
The hetero couple stories on Dipsea are just as captivating because they show characters with real emotions. This is something that’s not always seen in mainstream porn.
Dipsea is a great choice for anyone, single or married, who wants to have a unique, but very effective sexual experience. You’ll have more fun by yourself.
However, a word of caution: Listen on the train at YOUR own risk.
